About Me
I consider myself to be a very positive, friendly, outgoing person who has a love of life and a fascination for people. I see myself as a very caring, conscientious person who has the ability to both listen and communicate naturally to others. I have found, from my life experiences and training, I have become far more understanding of myself, others and the world while at the same time being continuously intrigued in my new discoveries. I have great belief in the approach I have become familiar with, in my practice as a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer. I have the ambition, drive and determination to continue succeeding in a career in counselling, psychotherapy, supervision and training. I am driven by the expansion, knowledge and skill of each new day.
I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist with 20+ years of working in the arena of mental health. I have a wealth of experience in short term and long term therapy. My experience includes working within the NHS for 15 years, lecturing for a university for 5 years and running my own private practice for over 20 years. I offer therapy, supervision and training.
My qualification is a Masters degree (MSc) is in Transactional Analysis (CTA Psychotherapy), I have many additional qualifications.
I work relationally. The therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is at the centre of my practice. I use all my many years of experience, professionalism and education to inform my work as a relational therapist.
I specialise in working with trauma, anxiety, depression and also bereavement.
Over the past ten years I have worked with in the arena of fostering (current position; Head of Therapeutic Fostering Services) supporting therapeutic work with children who have experienced childhood adversity (trauma). I consider myself to have expertise in ‘Therapeutic parenting’. I have written an extensive training program.
